DECISIONAL DIGNITY: TEENAGE ABORTION, BYPASS HEARINGS, AND THE MISUSE OF LAW.

  • Academic Journal
  • Columbia Journal of Gender & Law. 2009, Vol. 18 Issue 2, p409-499. 91p.
  • Article
  • The author examines the right to abortion for minors and the parental notification-judicial bypass requirements that have been implemented in several states in the U.S. Particular attention is given to judicial bypass hearings. The author suggests that they serve no purpose other than to cause girls to feel ashamed and embarrassed because they unintentionally became pregnant. The author ultimately argues for decisional dignity. Additional topics include moral philosophy, human rights, and the harm that women experience when they are unable to get abortions.
