The outbreak of the covid-19 pandemic represented, at a global level, an incessant series of state measures aimed at ensuring confinement and social distancing, in order to prevent the spread of sars-cov-2. From the analysis of various information sources, the result is that the health emergency has shown, within Latin America, a negative effect, consisting of an exponential increase in episodes of gender violence. In this context, the serious situation of intra-family vulnerability that women go through during the states of exception declared by the member states of the American Convention on Human Rights arises as a problem. In response to this, the main protection standards elaborated by the Inter-American Human Rights System on the matter are addressed and identified, with the aim of proposing them, through legal bases, as an overcoming solution, in the face of national legislation lacking the perspective of gender.
